the end of this class you will be "surfing the Internet", sharing e-mail with friends and
family and using word processing and spreadsheet applications. Maximum
class size is nine. Pick the class that uses your version of Windows: XP
or Vista/7.
INTERMEDIATE CLASSES
Internet & E-mail Learn
to take advantage of all the Internet offers. Communicate with friends
and family around the world with e-mail and access the wealth of useful
information available on the World-Wide-Web. This course takes you
beyond the basics and shows you how to protect your privacy and keep
your computer secure. Prerequisite: Basic computer and Internet skills.
Google Use the Google search engine to get the information you want,
when you want it. Who was the 23rd president? 5th Marx brother? What's a
quark? News, maps, directions, best prices"? This course will show
you how to get the most from Google. It's all there and more - at your
fingertips. Name it, you'll find it with Google. This is a 4-lesson
course. Prerequisite: Basic computer and Internet skills.
Using Microsoft Word 2007 Whether you are writing a short note, a
letter to family or friends, a flier or a book, Microsoft Word 2007
makes it easy and fun. Personalize your documents using interesting
fonts, color, bolding and underlining. Avoid mistakes - Word
automatically checks your spelling and grammar. Use advanced features to
change margins, create tables, lists, footnotes and insert drawings and
pictures. Even create form letters & use mail merge to personalize
letters and envelopes with names and addresses. Prerequisite: Basic
computer skills including some experience with word processing.
Using Microsoft Excel 2007
Learn how to use spreadsheets to easily
create and maintain budgets, monitor investments, track checking account
activity, or create Club Treasurer's reports. Excel helps you build and
edit worksheets using formulas which automatically calculate your
numbers so you'll never have a math error again. Prerequisite: Basic
computer skills & a Flash Drive available from SeniorNet.
Introduction to Digital Photography Get the most
from your digital camera. In this "hands-on" class you'll learn how to use your
camera's
features and controls and simple techniques to take better pictures.
You'll also learn to transfer photos to your computer, organize and edit
them using free software, e-mail them to friends and family and upload
them to the Internet for sharing and printing. Prerequisite: Basic
computer skills.
ADVANCED CLASSES
Take Control of Windows
Want to go beyond the basics and feel like you are in charge? Learn
about the major features of the operating system; how to organize files,
and find them anywhere on your computer. Customize your Start Menu,

safe and up-to-date; protect your data and back it up. Prerequisite:
Intermediate computer skills. Pick the class that uses your version of Windows XP or Vista/7.

such as personalized photo greeting cards. If you use your digital
camera, this class will help you improve your photos using Photoshop
